Scott Edward Anderson is an award-winning poet, memoirist, essayist, and translator. He is the author of Wine-Dark Sea: New & Selected Poems & Translations (Shanti Arts, 2022), Azorean Suite: A poem of the moment/Suite Açoriana: Um poema do momento (Letras Lavadas, 2020), Falling Up: A Memoir of Second Chances (Homebound Publications, 2019), which recently received the 1st Literary Award of Letras Lavadas in conjunction with PEN Açores, the Nautilus Award‑winning Dwelling: an ecopoem (Shanti Arts, 2018), Fallow Field (Aldrich Press, 2013), and Walks in Nature’s Empire (The Countryman Press, 1995).

Currently, Anderson is Poet Laureate of Ryan Observatory at Muddy Run (PA). He has been a Concordia Fellow at Millay Arts (formerly Millay Colony for the Arts) and received the Nebraska Review Award and Aldrich Emerging Poets Award. His work has appeared in the American Poetry Review, Alaska Quarterly Review, Barzakh Magazine, Cimarron Review, The Cortland Review, Gávea-Brown, Many Mountains Moving, Pessoa Plural, Terrain, and the anthologies Dogs Singing (Salmon Poetry, 2011) and The Incredible Sestina Anthology (Write Bloody, 2013), among other publications.

Anderson founded TheGreenSkeptic.com, which he wrote for ten years, worked for The Nature Conservancy, Ashoka, VerdeStrategy, and EY, as well as consulting with and advising numerous conservation organizations and cleantech companies. He was also a regular commentator with Varney & Co on Fox Business from 2009-2012.

In 2018, he participated in the Disquiet International Azores Residency on São Miguel Island, from which his great-grandparents emigrated in 1906, which he credits with reconnecting him to his life purpose.

Anderson is currently working on a translation of the Azorean poet Vitorino Nemésio’s classic travelogue, Corsário das Ilhas, for Tagus Press and a research-driven memoir about his Azorean Portuguese heritage titled The Others in Me: A Journey to Discover Ancestry, Identity, and Lost Heritage.

Born in Providence, Rhode Island, he now divides his time between the Berkshire Mountains in Western Massachusetts and São Miguel Island in the Azores.
